Boston Dynamics ATLAS Robot

A robot closely similar in performing human qualities like standing, carrying, and pushing items? Recently, in an article provided by eetims.com, in Massachusetts a company called Boston Dynamics that is also owned by Google has been working and developing a 5 foot and 9 inches tall robot  also known as ATLAS, that can completely amaze you to what it can do. (Click here to learn more about Boston Dynamics!) It was designed, and improved-on by engineers coming from Boston Dynamics. This robot weighs 180 pounds, (82 kg) and  is battery powered and remains wireless. (The robot used to weigh 330 pounds in a previous model.) This agile humanoid robot can walk on unevenly rough terrain and not fall, however it constantly stumbles. This robot has the abilities to operate and walk flawlessly on any surface, can pick up/lift  and hold  items that weigh up  to 10 pounds, can push items, and can surprisingly lift itself up when it is pushed on the ground. It can operate both indoors and outdoors, and in ANY climate temperatures as well. This robot uses sensors and cameras to 'see' its surroundings to be able to accurately walk around. It uses micro-electrical sensors that send oriented information to the processor in order to move around. ATLAS has been used by the United States Army, the Navy, and the Marines in their military bases. This robot was improved with a sleeker design from Boston Dynamics compared to their other previous robots for example like: old ATLAS (previous robot), next generation ATLAS (current one), BigDog, WildCat, and AlphaDog. (This is one of the coolest robots I think that has been released from the line-up  of Boston Dynamics.)

Thoughts, Ideas and Opinions

I think that a research advanced technology company like Boston Dynamics, and Google all in one big team is really ahead on the research and engineering in the robotics world in general. They have NOT ONLY made the updated ATLAS, but have made wild and crazy robotic ideas that seem interesting like: the BigDog, WildCat, AlphaDog, and the ATLAS itself. In particular, Boston Dynamics is working on implementing their robotic inventions into military bases and purposes. I think that more into the new and improved ATLAS, this robot has more human qualities and possible actions that are being put into the robot. I think that more and more robots have the abilities to perform more human tasks that can pretty much EXACTLY act like a robot. Overall, what surprised me the most is that this robot can completely lift itself up when it is thrown with so much force against the ground. I have noticed that this robot uses simple actions that are really really similar to how a human would do for example like: when walking, pushing items, lifting items, and lifting itself up. Also, since a company like Google has teamed-up with Boston Dynamics, then I suspect that we hear more coming from both companies later in the future as how Boston Dynamics begins to take out more military based robots, and how Google focuses more on wearable tech. With both of these companies, I wonder how they will both improve the ATLAS robot even more to make it EVEN BETTER! (I still think robots will take over humanity in the future if the world!)

A 'Camouflaging Color Chameleon Robot?'

Picture
A lizard-shaped robot that would be mistaken for a chameleon for its color camouflaging changing abilities? It can flawlessly and accurately match the color of its surroundings? A multitasking robot that can do many actions at once? Click here to read more...

An Ironing Robot?

Do you hate ironing? Especially RIGHT after you finished your exhausting day of laundry? Well, there's a recently designed robot from Columbia University, that is really surprising to WHAT it can do with a very very simple human task. Click here to read more...

Yes, if you read my article post above, I mention how it can carry large and heavy items, up to 10 pounds!
